Combination therapy in multiple sclerosis
01/03/2010 00:00
This investigation acknowledges the effectiveness of current MS therapies and treatments, particularly in limiting the progression of inflammatory tissue damage.
It is hypothesised that combining drugs, such as 2 disease-modifying drugs or a disease-modifying drug combined with a corticosteroid, which target a range of symptoms and there mechanisms, is more effective than administration of a single drug.
Specific combinations have given positive results, however other randomised combinations suggest otherwise. The effectiveness of combination therapy is still undecided.
